Congressman Johnny Isakson (R-Marietta)
will be the guest of honor at a fundraising reception for Senator
David Shafer (R-Duluth) on Monday, July 1, 2002, at the
1818 Club in Duluth. Isakson represents a substantial chunk of
Gwinnett County as part of the current Sixth Congressional
District, but redistricting has transferred virtually all of that
territory to the new Seventh Congressional District. Elected to
fill the unexpired term of Senator Billy Ray
(R-Lawrenceville) in a February special election, Shafer is
running for reelection to the new 48th State Senate District,
currently without opposition.
