Newly elected District 48 State Senator David Shafer, R-Duluth, will address the next Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs meeting.

The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. Friday at the Chamber building, 6500 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.

Shafer was elected in February during a nonpartisan contest to fill the unexpired term of former Senator Billy Ray, who resigned to take a local judgeship.  His district includes a large part of Gwinnett and Forsyth and a small part of Fulton.

Shafer serves on the Banking and Financial Institutions, Insurance and Labor, Education and Special Judiciary Committees.  He is also the Secretary of the Special Judiciary Committee.
