David Shafer's Upcoming Events

David will be busy this month preparing for the Legislative Session, supporting his Senate Republican colleagues in their fundraising, and celebrating the Holiday Season at various political and community events. Governor Sonny Perdue and Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle will be the special guests at a fundraiser for David on Tuesday, December 18, at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

Saturday, December 1
The City of Johns Creek will celebrate its first annual Founders Day. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:00 a.m., with Channel 11 anchor and Johns Creek resident Karyn Greer as the emcee. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. For more information, visit http://www.johnscreekga.gov/

David will leave Founders Day early to address the annual Mayor's Summit luncheon of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia in Greensboro.

Sunday, December 2
The annual Circle R Holiday Social from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the home of David's friends Dillon and Diane Fries. Diane is a member of the Sandy Springs City Council. Circle R is a fundraising club for members of the Fulton County Republican Party who contribute $180 or more annually. For more information, call the Fulton County Republican Party at 404-851-1444.

Monday, December 3
David will attend a joint meeting of the Gwinnett County Legislative Delegation from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. The public is invited.

Tuesday, December 4
David will attend the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee meeting from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Room 450 of the State Capitol.

David will attend the regular weekly luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Gwinnett County at the 1818 Club. David Ellis of the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association is the guest speaker. Wednesday, December 5
David will attend the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce's annual Legislative Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Peachtree Corners Hilton. Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle is the featured speaker. Tickets are $55 ($35 for Chamber members). For more information, call the Chamber at 770-232-3000.

Thursday, December 6
There will be a joint meeting of the Senate Regulated Industries and Utilities Committee and the Senate Natural Resources and Environment Committee in Room 450 of the State Capitol on the subject of climate change. David will co-preside with Senator Ross Tolleson. For more information, contact Senator Tolleson's office at the State Capitol.

Friday, December 7
This year the Atlanta Young Republicans and Buckhead Young Republicans will hold a joint Holiday Party at the home of Shawn Hanley, newly elected Chairman of the Fulton County Republican Party. Guests are asked to contribute $20 (or $15 with a new, wrapped toy for Toys for Tots). David is one of several elected officials who are sponsoring this event. Tuesday, December 11
Two of David's friends and colleagues will be having fundraisers at the 191 Club in downtown Atlanta. There will be a breakfast for Senator John Douglas from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and a reception for Senator Cecil Staton from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For information about the Douglas event, call 404-375-1234. Thursday, December 13
David will attend the annual legislative breakfast of the Gwinnett County Veterinary Association in Duluth.

David and House Speaker Pro Tem Mark Burkhalter will be the special guests at a fundraiser for DeKalb County Commissioner Elaine Boyera from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Petite Auberge in Atlanta. Elaine is seeking an historic fifth term on the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. The suggested contribution for the event is $1,000. For more information, call 770-498-3602.

Tuesday, December 18
Governor Sonny Perdue and Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle will be the special guests at a fundraising reception for David's re-election campaign from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Duluth.
